Recently, a series of events confirmed that Memphis is Back.

Memphis was a design and architecture collective founded by Ettore Sottsass in Italy, it had a brief life, being active from 1981 to 1987. During that time, they managed to bring 80’s postmodernism together with geometry, bold colors, prints and a hint of auto-ironic kitsch to respond to the minimalism and lack of colors that ruled the 70’s.

Nowadays, Nathalie du Pasquier did a collection for American Apparel and another one for Wrong for Hay. Also, Memphis collective did an exhibition in Milan during Fuorisalone 2014.

But before that, spanish fashion designer David Delfin did a bacterio-inspired fashion collection (bacterio is the famous Memphis print) and also a home collection. He was the first one who got me thinking of Memphis, then the confirmation of this rebirth came with the Dezeen article, The Return of Memphis.
